Impact

5000+ disabled people directly benefited with various programs of the organization

  • 1510 disabled people trained and created job opportunities for 1050 individuals with disabilities.
  • 150 children with disability is supported with aids and appliance and other rehabilitation through early intervention program .
  • 3000+ individuals with disabilities to access to entitlements .
  • 121 disabled people trained on Entrepreneurship development training 71 people started their own business and 31 received loan average 25K each .

1. Early Intervention Program – 13  Grampanchayath of Bangalore North and yellahanka taluk , 9 BBMPwards,  Chikkabanavara Town munciple and Madanayakanahalli City munciple.
2. Livelihood Program – We work across Karnataka
3. Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) – we cover 2 Taluks of Bangalore Urban (North and Yellahanka)and 1 Taluk of Bangalore Rural dist (Nelamangala)
 
VNF has conducted several mobilization camps and job fairs in different districts of Karnataka.
 

Program 1 - Early Intervention

Early intervention is a preventive program which has been started in 2017 with the association of DNA disability NGO alliance. Srushti Special Academy is a skilling partner of DNA to Develop the Human Resource.

Through this program, we identify the delay in development of children in the slum of our working area and work on their Rehabilitation. To Identify and start Rehabilitation of delayed development children from the stage of beginning (before 3 year’s).

Base Line Survey done in 9 BBMP Wards

  • Visited most of Anganwadi, Primary Schools, Hospitals and Door to Door
  • Identified 70 Delay development children in that 20 children are within 10 Age and 50 below 6 years
  • Home Visits has done from the field worker, Program Manager, and Operation Manager
  • Basic Assessment done in VNF Centre with Rehabilitation Therapist
  • Secondary Assessment and Measurement did with an Expert therapist and Orthotic.
  • 20 Rehabilitation Files has been done with the guidelines of Srushti Special Academies and Disability NGO Alliances 
  • Home visits too have started
  • Plan to start Early Intervention centre in April 2018, Daily living management, Parents training, Appliances Support, and Therapy.

 

Objectives

Promote Early Stage Intervention and Early Education among children with developmental Delays between the age group of Birth to 6 years (Relaxation of 2 years (i.e. 0 to 8 yrs).

  • Training of parents both in rehabilitation and further prevention of disabilities through structured training programs, counseling sessions, peer interactions and orientation to future possibilities
  • Capacity building of local stakeholders such as PHC doctors, Health Workers, Asha Workers and Anganwadi workers in order to ensure early identification, referrals and follow up support.

Program 2 - Livelihood

Through our observation, we have noticed that disabled people lack in basic employable skills like Computer’s for office work, english communication , work ethics, policies in the companies, retail management, disability management, and other needed skills. So we have taken the initiative to train disabled youths on needed skills.

To support the rural people with disability of Karnataka, we have started Livelihood skill development training and job placement with free Food and Accommodation facility.

We have done Mobilization from Belagavi, Raichur, Bijapur, Dharwad, Gadag, Koppel,  Shivamogga, Chikkamagalur, Yadgiri, Hassan, Tumkur, Mandya, Gulburga and Bangalore Urban slums, and Identified disabled individual’s & bring them into our Organization.

From 15th May 2017 training program started, we trained more than 1300 individuals after that we did job placement in D-MART, BIG BAZAR, HATTI COFFEE, G4S Securities, ANZ, Mitticafe, Vindya infomedia, Bigbasket, Hypercity, Cognizant, etc.

  • Work ethics, Work Pressure, Time Management, Money Management, Health Management, Accommodation & Travel Management importance of Behaviour in the workplace.
 

 45 days of the full residential program which changes the mindset of disabled youths who are come from remote villages of North Karnataka like {Belagavi, Gadag, Koppel, Bagalkot, Dharwad. it also helps them to adjust to stay in Bangalore. We take them for an exposure visit to show them how other disabled people are working in a different sector.

Program 3 - Community Based Rehabilitation Programme (CBR)

Disabled people are suffering a lot with discrimination and lack of awareness about their available resource in Government so VNF selected 9 BBMP wards of Bangalore North West to help through various programs like Disability ID Card, Disability Pension, Train and Bus Pass, Petty shop and Insurance by Government.

  • Swavalamban Health Insurance Survey Program

Swavalamban is a National government health insurance scheme for people with disability, VNF started survey program to identify and facilitate Disabled people to get that scheme, and we have selected 3 BBMP wards in the 1st phase and identified 200 people with disability.

In 2nd phase identified 130 PWDs in other 4 wards and requested MLA to contribute 10% {359 Rs} of fund which the disabled people has to pay the government, he agreed and suggested us to identify 1000 disabled people in his constituency.   

  • Wheelchair Training Workshop

On 28th July 2017 through Disability NGO Alliance we have invited to attend One-day wheelchair training workshop in Mobility India Bangalore.

Director of Disability welfare department, around 13 District Disability welfare officers attended the workshop, they have given information on types of a wheelchair, what are important factors need to focus during wheelchair distribution, wheelchair training importance, maintaining techniques much more information has been shared by experts, and many wheelchair users shared their real experiences.

From VNF 3 people attended the workshop, this workshop helped us get many information about wheelchair   

  • Orientation to DPO Members 

Voice of Needy foundation facilitating disabled people association in Mahalakshmi Puram to network Disabled through our 7 BBMP wards and Mahalakshmi layout Constituency, through this DPO we are giving awareness to the people on disability and access the Government schemes from BBMP, Bangalore District disability welfare department, MLA, MLC, MP and National Government.

On 26th July 2017 Organized Orientation meeting on Livelihood opportunities of disabled people in Bangalore and Voice of Needy foundation Livelihood program. Many DPO leaders involved actively and they have committed to spreading the information about the program in the community.

  •  Evening Resource center

As our regular program for Orphan and Poor children, Evening Resource center started in Shankarnagar.

Selected children from Vijyanandangar, Krishnanandanagar every day come to the resource center at 5 o clock use all library books and we teach the children to prepare for their Examination.

  •         Senior Citizen cards distribution

As per our regular distribution program this time we have identified 65 senior citizens from Gorgontepalya, koollinagar, Vijayanandanagar and distributed senior citizen cards. 

Program - 4 Rural Livelihood mission(Self Employment program)​

VNF in association with RUDSET and Enable India started Entrepreneurship development program for disabled people,

The program started from February 2022

So far 116 people successfully completed 10days of EDP and skill training and 90people started  their own business

41 people received Seed money (loan) to start their business 

Program - 5 Social entitlement

VNF has selected 3 taluks of Bangalore urban and rural dist  for an intensive mapping of beneficiaries and linking them to various programs like availing Aids and appliances , Disability ID Card, Disability Pension, Monthly PHP Allowances, Train and Bus Pass, Petty shop,5% GP fund and Insurance by Government so far reached to 2000+ disabled people.

Program - 6 Self-Employment Program for Persons with Disabilities

The Self-Employment Program identifies individuals with disabilities who face barriers to traveling for wage employment, including married women with disabilities, and provides them with opportunities to build sustainable livelihoods.

Through sensitization events conducted in collaboration with local Gram Panchayat  eligible candidates are identified and enrolled in a 10-day Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP). This program equips participants with essential skills and knowledge to start and manage small businesses.

Following the training, the program supports trainees in identifying viable business opportunities and securing financial resources through:

  • Family contributions and personal savings.
  • Local Panchayat’s 5% reserved funds for persons with disabilities.
  • Social investors providing seed money for start-ups.

VNF facilitates the business setup process, offering continuous handholding support through Self-Help Groups (SHGs) of disabled people and local networks. By fostering their growth as independent entrepreneurs, the program ensures long-term sustainability and financial independence for participants, transforming them into role models within their communities.

Program - 7 Early Identification and Intervention Program (Chiguru)

The Early Identification and Intervention Program focuses on addressing developmental delays and disabilities in young children to prevent secondary complications and ensure their holistic development.

Key activities include:

  • Regular Screening: Conducted in collaboration with the Health Department to monitor children’s developmental milestones and identify abnormalities early.
  • Community Outreach: Community workers actively identify children with disabilities in urban slums and rural villages.
  • Diagnosis and Rehabilitation Planning: After identification, children are referred to doctors for proper diagnosis, followed by individualized rehabilitation plans that may include:
    • Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy.
    • Provision of aids and appliances such as special chairs, standing frames, knee and ankle supports.

The program also emphasizes:

  • Parental Training: Equipping parents with skills for daily living management and basic therapy techniques.
  • Peer Support Networks: Connecting parents to support groups for shared experiences and guidance.
  • Education Facilitation: Preparing children to transition into mainstream education, ensuring their right to inclusion and equal opportunities.

This program not only improves the quality of life for children with disabilities but also empowers families with the tools and support they need for their children’s growth and integration into society.
